Learning and training are an important part of being with us. Business, technology, and knowledge are always changing. If you are curious and want to learn, Loomis & Co is the place for you. Training for all employees involves both technical and non-technical (soft) skills. Just as we all need to understand the newest accounting and tax rules, we also need training in client service, selling, and leadership skills. We continuously search for the best training options. Through our relationship with CPAConnect (see the Resources tab), we have access to the extensive training opportunities they provide. We also utilize the California CPA Society, AICPA conferences and courses, independent providers, and local universities, to name a few. In-house training is important too. Everyone has the opportunity to lead trainings for the firm, even first year employees. All of this cannot be done in the industry standard of 40 hours per year. Our people routinely receive two to three times that amount of structured training. On the job training adds to the learning opportunities. Training and education is coordinated individually per person by Renee Hazel, one of our partners, along with Mary Ethington. The training is linked to experience level, individual needs, and goals. |
